We went to try the new Alexander’s Steakhouse for Carlos’ birthday last Saturday. Alexander’s Steakhouse’s original location is in Silicon Valley and they recently opened the second location in the old Bacar location. It has been over five years since I had been to Bacar, but the restaurant looked pretty similar to how it had been before. It is a great space, so why mess with it? We had a fabulous meal, great service and lots of surprises. We started with the beet “tartare” and it was so delicious. Then the first surprise was the intermezzo of pineapple & green onion sorbet. Carlos ordered the 24 oz. bone in t-bone, which you can see by the picture was GINORMOUS! I ordered the filet mignon with dried green olives and green olive hollandaise sauce. We had a hard time choosing the sides – there were so many delicious options. We ended up going with the flash fried green beans with bacon and the twice baked potato (SO GOOD). We saw another couple order the chocolate souffle and had to order it for dessert. It takes an extra 15 minutes to cook, so while we were waiting they brought another intermezzo of bay leaf creme brulee (I know it sounds strange, but it was really tasty). The souffle was probably the best chocolate souffle we have ever had. So, at this point I am wondering if they have a forklift to carry me out to the car and they bring a surprise of watermelon cotton candy. I am not a big cotton candy fan, but this stuff melted in your mouth and was so tasty. Overall, if you can’t tell, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back. The overall experience was fantastic, but I do have to say when it comes down to the pure steak versus steak experience, Carlos’ favorite is still the good old standard of Harris’ Steakhouse. Happy Birthday Carlos! Love you!
