Carlos and I went to Park Tavern for dinner the other night after hearing rave reviews about it from our friends. Park Tavern is in the old Moose’s restaurant space in North Beach in Washington Square. It was started by the people over at Marlowe in SOMA (which I still need to try). We really liked the redesign – still has the old classic feel to it but with a modern twist. The food was really delicious! We started with the Saikou salmon, baby beets, creme fraiche & dill and the deviled eggs. We didn’t try them but apparently the brussel sprout chips are outrageous for all of you brussel sprout lovers! Carlos ordered the grilled pork chop with Italian butter bean pistou and dinosaur kale and I ordered the seared local albacore, crispy sunchokes, baby artichokes and salsa rustica. We shared a side of the twice baked potato with creme fraiche and cheddar cheese (it was outrageous and came in this adorable rectangle skillet). For dessert we shared the Tcho Chocolate creme brulee. The restaurant is quite large and has a lot of tables and cozy booths. The bar is nice with a long community table in it. Another huge plus was that they have valet parking! Most locals know that North Beach is pretty much impossible to park in, so if a restaurant has valet parking it is such a nice perk! We would definitely go back even though with so many amazing restaurants in the city and having limited date nights now that we have three kids it is really hard to go back to the same restaurant twice – unless you are one of my favorites!
